Curra, one of the four rescued mares gave birth to a little colt three weeks after she came to the Centre, in a shocking condition of starvation. At first it was doubtful that the little man could survive or that Curra could manage to feed him, but against all the odds she did. Sadly, a week after his birth, his mother suffered severe colic and she and her baby were rushed to the Veterinary Hospital in Cordoba where they operated. Miraculously both are still with us, incredible fighters, and we are hoping they will come back to Alhaurin soon to convalesce at our vet’s premises where they have the aftercare facilities not available at the Centre.
