….. an update on some of our recent rescues.
The two mares and the filly foal rescued from starvation are doing well. They are gaining weight and confidence. The older mare, Bandolera, is now friendlier and easier to handle, the smaller one, Bella, is still wary but gradually coming round to realise the humans at ARCH mean her no harm. Her elegant long-legged filly has gained weight and attitude and has now been separated from her mother into the next-door paddock. She does not appear upset by the arrangement as the food supply is still as lavish!

We had to decide on a name for her and the team voted to call her Ida, as a tribute to a rather special supporter. Her namesake lives in Denmark and heard about our work through a family friend. This young girl recently celebrated her First Communion and, as is the custom in her country, received gifts of money. She generously donated a substantial amount of this to ARCH. It is unusual for youngsters to think about others on their special day, so we thought we should acknowledge how touched and grateful we were.
The donkey, Petra, rescued with the mares and the old stallion, is very happy and enjoys the attention and cuddles. We will be looking for a suitable home for her soon.
