Seven horses (six mares and a young colt ) arrived at ARCH in the pitch black, illuminated solely by car headlights. They had been driven up from Almonte, a four-hour journey. These were horses that the Ayuntamiento had rounded up as they were presenting a grave danger to road users in the area and had already caused a fatal accident. To all intents and purposes they were abandoned, without microchips. The little herd is extremely nervous and wary of humans, and presumably have had little or no handling. Our dear old Gitana gave them the confidence to follow her out of the lorry and into the safety of a paddock.
They will now be left to chill out for a few days before we can discover any individual details. A big thank you to all the volunteers who turned out to get them to safety. More details when we know them.
