A.R.C.H. is a non-profit organization and charity registered with the Junta de Andalucia, (Asociacion 8448). We are dedicated to the care and rehabilitation of horses, donkeys, and mules that been injured, abused, abandoned or neglected. We are self-funded through membership, sponsorships, donations and fund raising. A.R.C.H. does not receive any national or Andalucian government funding.
Sometimes we cannot save an equine due its bad condition or injuries, but many horses make a full recovery and are placed in new, caring homes. Such rehabilitation is a long and costly process, with special feed, ongoing veterinary attention, dentistry and farrier work.
Jill – is the president but that does not exonerate her from mucking out duties. She liaises with the OCA for all the paperwork involved in horse adoptions and advises possible adopters how to apply for their Junta de Andalucia code.
Val – is involved in the day to day running of the charity and helps with the accounts. She has a good relationship with the local authorities which helps to smooth over the endless legalities. She is the only member of the team qualified in horse transport.
Steve – Drives the horse trailer and is particularly good at loading reluctant horses.
Claire – juggles her duties as stable manager, website coordinator, official photographer and facebook queen, with acting as horse and donkey whisperer to nervous new arrivals.
Zaria – is the youngest member of the team. At only 8 years old she makes sure the donkeys have a daily walk and chops their carrots.
Ana and Jerry – are our international fund raisers and Jerry also keeps an eye on the accounts.
Heather and Mike – run several successful fund raising events each year. Particularly the popular Golf Competitions at the Marbella Golf Club. Heather bakes cakes for our events and Mike is usually to be found behind the barbecue.
Jan - is the ARCH secretary and also deals with publicity and press relations.
Martin and Camilla - Are two of our latest additions to the ARCH team. Beside both being professional horse-trainers, Martin has taken over the role of our website man and has recently re-designed the whole website. Camilla is helping out with a few of our animals with her massages. And as with the rest of the ARCH team they also dont mind getting their hands dirty and helping muck out.
